When we first walked through the Schmitz family bathroom, the space had good bones—but it lacked warmth, storage function, and the calming experience they were hoping for. Our goal was to turn it into a comfortable and elevated retreat, blending timeless style with improved usability.

A Fresh Take on Texture and Tranquility

The highlight of the remodel is, without a doubt, the tub wall. We chose vertical ribbed tile to bring soft dimension and visual movement to the space without feeling busy. The clean vertical lines draw your eye upward, creating height and adding subtle sophistication to the bathroom design.

A free-standing soaking tub anchors the space, complemented by matte black fixtures for contrast and modern appeal. It's a space that invites you to unwind—whether it’s after a long day or just for a quiet weekend moment.

Vintage Cabinetry Meets Modern Countertops

Instead of replacing the existing oak vanity, we embraced it. With a refresh in surrounding materials and the addition of a sleek white quartz countertop, the cabinetry now reads warm and intentional rather than dated.

Black round pulls and matte black lighting fixtures update the bathroom hardware, creating a cohesive look that ties in with the tub zone. These small changes offer a big impact—perfect for homeowners who want to honor their home’s original character while giving it a more modern bathroom design feel.

Favorite Functional Touches

  • Wall-mounted hooks add easy-access towel storage without crowding the space
  • Frameless round mirror reflects natural and artificial light to make the room feel larger
  • Warm wood tones in the cabinetry pair beautifully with the soft neutral tile and flooring
  • Black fixtures offer contrast and modern appeal while tying the entire design together

An Inviting Everyday Luxury

This space is proof that you don’t have to gut your bathroom to feel like you’ve walked into a retreat. Thoughtful surface updates, reimagined finishes, and material contrast came together to create a look that’s modern, cozy, and built to last.
