staircase refresh + Custom bar|glencoe, minnesota

Before

This picture highlights a kitchen ready for a new layout and refresh. It presents a little dark, and could use brightening. There is a peninsula that makes an L that could be changed.
This fireplace is functional but in need of a refresh especially to be cohesive with the rest of the updates happening in the home. Currently, the surround has more of a mosaic tile look.
This entry way had a fun look but the homeowner was ready for something new.

after

This kitchen is magazine worthy. Featuring beautiful finishes, some open shelving for visual interest, unique lighting and completely new layout.
This fireplace went from having a more modern tile surround to a painted black brick with a natural wood mantle. The look matches the rest of the finishes and color schemes of the home.
Board and batten is a simple way to add a design element to a room - this looks wonderful in the entry way!

Project Recap

This project focused on reworking the entry of a split-level home to feel more open, intentional, and welcoming from the moment you walk in. We removed a portion of the existing wall and replaced it with a new railing, creating better sightlines and a more connected feel between levels. To align with the updated layout, we also adjusted and shortened the wall handrail so everything feels cohesive and properly scaled.

Downstairs, we carried that same level of intention into the basement with a custom bar designed for both everyday use and entertaining. The layout was built to accommodate a beverage fridge, with cabinetry on both sides for balanced, functional storage. Above, floating shelves with integrated recessed lighting add both practicality and a subtle, elevated detail. A tile backsplash finishes the space, tying everything together into a feature that feels polished, inviting, and built to be used.
